OUR HISTORY

Cirkad was born from a group of young circus lovers. Enrolled in amateur classes at the Cherche-Trouve circus school, they meet everyday under the tents to train together and create new acts. Marceau and Tom dream bigger, and they officially found Cirkad on the 28th of June 2016.

Whilst some of them continue their studies in circus arts, in STAPS (sciences and technics of physical and spoil activities) or in communication, the collective remains united, meeting at weekends to create, rehearse and perform at almost all the village celebrations in the district . In 2019, thanks to a crowdfunding, the acquisition of an 4 feet rig opens up new perspectives. Several shows see the light of day, such as « Evasion » or « Detour », mixing circus and live music. Those years shape their thirst for live performance and their desire to go even further. Gaëtan is the first to embark on a professional career, enrolling at the Quebec city circus school, specialising in aerial rope. This will be followed by departures for the National Circus School in Montreal, Codarts in Rotterdam, Netherlands, ESAC in Brussels or CNAC in Châlons-en-Champagne. Everyone develops skills and forges connections around the world. With its strong network, Cirkad continues to thrive, particularly as a production company during those years of education.

10 years after the creation of Cirkad, new international artists are joining the adventure with the aim of creating unique and unforgettable artistic experiences!

TOM.jpg

Tom Laurent

Co-founder | Artistic Director

Trying to look like his brother is the reason why he started circus at the age of eight. If only four words could describe him as a circus artist, they would be : Tom LAURENT, French, handbalancer. Through twisted and distorted forms, he explores how the technique of handbalance can push the limits of physical form and perception. To perfect his skills, Tom trained for two years at CRAC in Lomme with Yaqin Deng, then continued to develop his technique at Codarts (Rotterdam), shaped by the precise eye of Juan Liu. For Tom, circus only makes sense through moments of energy shared with the audience. Looking for him? He's probably the one wearing a pink hat. PARTICIPATION: Entre deux - Taisez-vous moins fort Company(In creation) Show 'Évasion' (France 2020)

Clemence.jpeg

Clemence De Luca

Co-founder | Circus artist

Clémence discovers the circus at a young age in a small French school. Her love for the stage, acrobatics and sharing grew over time. One day, she realises that becoming a circus artist is within her reach: she chooses the circus option at school, then enrolls at the Quebec city circus school before joining the National Circus School of Montreal, where she specialises in hand-to-hand. Her curiosity leads her to explore other facets of the stage – dance, theatre, clowning – which she greatly enjoys.  PARTICIPATION:  Residence with L'Eolienne company (France 2025) “Ech2osystem” show (Canada 2025) Stage manager for the ENC exit numbers (Canada 2025) Workshop with the XY company (France 2024) Closing ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games (France 2024) 'Fall, in love' show (Canada 2024)

Jeanne.jpg

Jeanne Antore-Cobetto

Circus artist

Jeanne barely waited to walk before starting circus training, and has never stopped since. From La Cascade (national circus centre) to the Higher School of Circus Arts in Brussels, via preparatory schools in Montpellier and Lille, Jeanne has never stopped pursuing her ambitions. The last six years of school gave her the time and resources she needed to develop a hybrid movement that reflects her personality, something between contortion, dance, balance and acrobatics. She puts this technique to use in the professional projects she undertakes. PARTICIPATION: Entre deux - Taisez-vous moins fort Company (In creation) The one’s left - ESAC x Cirque Pardi (2025) Yes please No - ESAC x Hanna Memphis (2024) Petit jeux sans conséquence - ESAC x Sophie Mandoux (2022)
